Hot Photoshop Tutorials Weekly (#2)
There were some wicked Photoshop tutorials this week! Enjoy

In this Photoshop tutorial we’ll be learning how to design a simple, urban-style logo, good for your local band website or something like that
You can see exactly what we’ll be designing below.

Outlaw Design Blog has recently published an interesting post, 63 Must Have Grunge Fonts.
You’ve gotta check these out, there’s tons of beautiful grunge fonts here!

I’m gonna try to keep this as a regular feature, here’s 5 of the hottest Photoshop tutorials from the last week (I hope!)

There have been several sites lately that incorporate wood in the design in some way or another. It gives a site a warm and natural feel, and can help make the design look great when done tastefully. If you have yet to do a design with wood, here are a few textures that might help you get in on the action.

Hey guys, eye candy tutorial!
In this short Photoshop tutorial we’ll be creating our own cool scotch tape, so you can stick things to stuff… and the like
These kinds of graphics are also particularly useful for grunge-themed website designs.

Have you ever tried finding a golden ribbon inside of a chocolate bar wrapping to no avail? Well that’s obviously because there are none in them! Just joking, but seriously, who needs real ribbons when we can make our own?
In this quick Photoshop tutorial we’ll be designing our own sweet, golden ribbon! This is a basic tutorial, however I won’t exactly be detailing all the tools, etc. in-depth so much, so this might be suitable for new Photoshop users.

You can see what we’ll be designing in the above image. Twist it, lick it, dunk it, eat it. Use it on your site, these are multi-purpose ribbons!
I thought we would celebrate the upcoming release of Indiana Jones IV, the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by learning how to remake the awesome Indiana Jones text! So, I’m going to attempt to remake the text effect used in the posters and promotional images
Please note that attempt is emphasized above! This is as close as I could get it, I hope it’s good enough!
In this little Photoshop tutorial we’ll be designing a quick art piece, then we’ll be adding some texture to it, this is to demonstrate the use of texture in artwork, as you may be able to see in works from people such as GoMedia. Obviously this method will work better with some things and not so well with others, so please try to use it in moderation, if you will.
Yes, my opinion may be a little bit biased in the above image, but you know, you get the point ![]()
Just letting you guys know that I’m always looking for affiliates and also good websites to add to the resources page. Please feel free to contact me at eli [at] photoshopstar [dot] com.
Even if you’re not a website owner, do you know of any good websites that should be added to the resources page?
We’ve also got a new tutorial coming soon! ![]()

Whether it be for web, graphic or print design, I think everyone needs and can do with a little inspiration at some point, and there’s nothing wrong with it, is there? Normally I just like to look at the colors and shapes of other website designs, since those are my main weak points (I recommend you do the same).
I’ve composed a small list of my main inspiration sources, please feel free to check ‘em out. There’s plenty of good stuff here to go around
Not only does their website look great, but they also have a ‘Monday Inspiration’ feature, which has included things such as type in motion, futuristic interfaces, and everything in between. Smashing Magazine also has tons of articles on every different subject, recently they published a Photoshop tutorials article which included 3 tutorials from PhotoshopStar.
Hey, how’s everyone doing today?
Have you ever wanted to be President? Well now it’s possible, (not really) because in this tutorial we’ll be designing our very own presidential candidacy badge. You know, those ‘vote for me’ badges
