Basically, in this tutorial I’m going to be showing you how to create a photo effect like the one in the below image, it’s pretty much all accomplished by using color curves and color levels, as are most photo effects, right?

Start by finding some appropriate picture to use it in this tutorial. I used a cool hooligan photo. If you want you can download from it here and get to work. Open up the photo and increase contrast with Image > Adjustments > Levels:

Now we have a contrast like this:

Ok, move to the next step. Begin to make color correction on photography. Press on the layers thumbnail ‘Create new fill or new adjustment layer’ button and chose Curves.

After that set up following settings for each color channel:

See the difference now?

After that slightly reduce the contrast. Move to the original layer with photo and apply Image > Adjustments > Levels with such settings as on the picture below.

See the result now:

Next, create a new layer above the curves layer and fill it with green color (#007016). Change layer mode to Overlay.

And the last one thing that we need to do is to bring a little bit of noise to the photo. Create a new one layer and fill it with black color after that apply Filter > Noise > Add Noise:

Now, change layer mode to Color Dodge and you will see the final result.

I’m just going to be making a nice, hot tanned skin photo effect in this tutorial! If you are interesting, join me!

So, let’s start! If you don’t have appropriate photo you can use mine or find another one thru Google Images. Also you can use your own photos if you think that you are not tanned on the photo or do not have time to go to the sea or ocean or just want to be swarthy. Open up the photo at first.

The girl on the picture above looks untanned. I know how to help her to make ‘quick tan.’ Select the Polygonal Lasso Tool and start with skin selection.

Pay your attention that we selected just some part of the skin. We need to cut away part of swimsuits from selected area. Hold the Alt button (the minus sign should be appear near lasso tool pictogram) and start to cat away swimsuit from the selected area.

Ok, after that we need to add selection the other parts of girl’s body. In this way hold the Shift button (the plus sign should be appear near lasso tool pictogram) and select as more areas as you need.

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate selected part of image to the new layer. And now begin to change color for this layer, turning a girl in a light tan. For this effect apply Image > Adjustments > Layers and set up following presets for each channel:

Now, we have something like this:

Ok, I think, It will be better to remove contrast a little bit and change brightness with Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast.

Here is result:

Ok, we are done! The girl looks better as before. You can see the difference on the picture below. Of course we can make this effect in other ways in Photoshop, but this one is simple and useful as for me.

I tried to experiment with photo and mix it with black lines to simulate drawing. Would you know how to make it? Ok, then read this tutorial.

Let’s start by finding the picture of beautiful girl with hairdressing. I went to Google Images and looked up the picture, you can feel free to download my picture from here. Open up the picture and desaturate it in the beginning with Image > Adjustments > Desaturate or press Ctrl+Shift+U.

After that increase the contrast with Image > Adjustments > Levels:

See the difference now?

Move to the next step. Create a new layer and fill it with white color. After that change layer opacity for this layer to 30%. Then select the Eraser Tool and a soft round brush to make a little clear work on the face area.

Merge two of these layers in one and start to make drawing effect. Get out the Pen Tool (you need to make sure that you’re working with Paths instead of Shape Layers). Draw out your line using paths:

After that select the Brush Tool and set up with the following settings and set foreground color as black:

Create new layer and then right-click and select Stroke Path.

A little dialog box will appear as in the screenshot. Choose Brush and make sure there is a tick next to Simulate Pressure. This is important as it will give your curve tapered ends which will make it rock!

The picture use to look as mine:

Now the line is hardly noticeable, but don’t worry about. Next right click again and select Delete Path. Try to make more lines in the same way to outline the body and hair contours.

Now, move to the background layer with woman’s photo and select the Brush Tool (use soft brush about 100 px and set brush opacity to 30% up). Sketched the silhouette with white color a little bit.

After that use the Sharpen Tool to make the contours more distinct.

I finished off with this tutorial by merging all of my layers together. Please feel free to experiment, get creative, use your own settings. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

Firstly, start by finding a stock photos that you can add the effect to. A couple of good resources to find free stock photos are: stock.xchange and DeviantART. First of all find the photo of interior with sofa and another one will be the photo of the dog. If you want to use your own pictures, feel free to use it and experiment with composition. Open the photo of the dog and try to separate the silhouette from the background with Polygonal Lasso Tool.

Now, copy selected part of image with Ctrl+C, then open the picture with sofa and paste (press Ctrl+V) copied fragment from the first photo to the second.

After that reduce copied fragment about 30% horizontally and vertically

Bulldog does not look realistic in the background. We should fix this problem. Right click on the current layer in palette thumbnails and apply such Blending Options:
• Drop Shadow:

This layer style should be saved on the new layer as separate effect to have an opportunity to work with in future. Apply Layer > Layer Style > Create Layer to divide this layer style from the main layer. Go to the new separated layer with drop shadow (under the current layer) and use the Smudge Tool to transform it a little bit as on my picture below.

After that apply the Eraser Tool and a soft round brush to clear shadow, which is located behind the dog outside floor.

Go to the layer with dog again and apply following Blending Options to it:
• Inner Glow

See the result on the picture below:

After that get out the Burn Tool (Brush: 50 px, Range: Midtones, Exposure: 30%) and obscure the back of the dog, which is in the shade.

I think, It will be better to add the text, get out the Horizontal Type Tool and write out the text using green (#dcea78) color.

Ok, merge all layers in one and duplicate with Ctrl+J. Then we need to desaturate copied layer. We can do this by using Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

Now we have black and white photo and one color photo under. I’m going to mix two of these photos in the next way: select the Eraser Tool and use some soft round points to clear black and white image partly.

Then use the Custom Shape Tool to add different sizes white animal prints.

Now, merge all of prints in one layer and change layer mode to Overlay. Also set up opacity to 20%.

In this easy, step-by-step tutorial I’m going to show you how to replace yellow color of teeth to white on photo and create real ‘Hollywood smile.’

Firstly, start by finding a photo that you can demonstrate the effect to. Try to use Google Images to find a good picture or feel free to use mine. Now open up your photo in Photoshop, you can either keep it at it’s current size of resize it down a little bit. Then select the Polygonal Lasso Tool to create the selection as on my picture below.

Duplicate selected area with Ctrl+J. We will experiment with this copied layer. Apply Image > Adjustments > Levels to change hue and saturation for current layer. Use settings similar to these:

See the difference now:

Ok, looks better, then before, but it will looks better without pink lips outside the teeth, get out the Eraser Tool and a sharp round brush to clear area out of teeth.

To finish off the tutorial, I think, we need to remove purple hue on teeth. Do this by using Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation with next parameters:

As for me, looks better now!

Ok, after that select the Dodge Tool (Brush: 45px, Range: Midtones, Exposure: 50%) and make a little dodge work on the teeth in the mouth corner.

Professional photographers who makes pictures of the night the city can use different filters in their professional camera to achieve certain effect on the photo. What to do when there is no professional equipment? In this way Photoshop can help us!

In the beginning open up the photo you’ve chosen to be working with for this tutorial. Also you can use Google Images to find other pictures. Duplicate it once with Ctrl+J and select light sources on the picture with Image > Adjustments > Levels. Set with similar settings to these:

Now we have something like this:

Most of the elements of photography will disappear, except for the bright spots. But now some spots are redundant also. You can remove it with the Brush Tool with black color.

Ok, after that change layer mode to Screen and duplicate this layer with Ctrl+J. After that start to create interesting professional camera lighting effect. Apply Filter > Blur > Motion Blur to the current layer:

But the effect is almost not noticeable now:

It can be strengthened through Image > Adjustments > Levels with moderate settings:

Looks good, but glowing is not so real right now. Press Ctrl+F (apply Motion Blur one more time) to resolve this problem.

Looks better than before. Ok start with the second part of the effect. Go to the layer under and apply Filter > Blur > Motion Blur, but don’t forget to change to opposite.

After that apply the same Image > Adjustments > Levels as for the layer under.

Now, press Ctrl+F to make this glowing more realistic.

Ok, now we have and interesting professional camera filter effect. Well, we’re done for this tutorial! Thanks for reading to everyone.

In the beginning, find some appropriate photo of the night sky where we can demonstrate fireworks effect. I think this one photo will be great example. Open this picture. Now, before we can start making fireworks lines, I would like to note you that you need to get out the Brush Tool before and set up with the following settings:

Then change some brush presets to create realistic fireworks lines. You can do it using Window > Brushes:

After that set foreground color to #c0ff00. Ok, select the Pen Tool (make sure that you’re working with Paths instead of Shape Layers). Draw out your line using paths:

Then press Esc to finish the current line. Create a new layer, after that right-click and select Stroke Path.

A little dialog box will appear as in the screenshot. Choose Brush and press OK.

You can see the result on the picture below.

Create other lines in the same way. It will be better to create about 5-6 lines, not more.

Looks good, isn’t it? Ok, go to the next step. Apply Outer Glow layer style for this layer.

Effect will be next:

Ok, after that select the Brush Tool and set up the next presets as on my picture below:

Draw the print on the same layer.

After that change the brush from the palette and add a little bit more dots in the bottom of lines.

Do it a couple of times.

Now, select a new one standard brush as shown below.

Make the same prints as on my picture.

And the last one thing that we need to do is add the glow around the fireworks. Create a new layer and move it under the layer with fireworks. Set foreground color as #b3c8ff, then select the Brush Tool and a soft round brush about 170 pixels and print a big dot like mine:

Change opacity to 45% for this layer.

Then add I little bit more fireworks in the same way:

Ok, time to move our fireworks out the tower. Use the Eraser Tool to clear foreground from flashes.

Looks better, but, I think, not finished. Do you agree with me? To remove this unsuitable feeling go to the background layer and duplicate it with Ctrl+J. after that change picture hue with Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation.

Now we have something like this:

Select the Eraser Tool (Opacity: 30%) to clear left part of image from the blue glow.

Here is not so hard, but very interesting tutorial how to make an artistic photo.

So, let’s begin! Get started by finding a nice, suitable photo to work with. For this you’ll want to use Google Images or some stock photo websites. I found this one picture. Open this picture. Then we need to increase the space around the photo. Use Image > Canvas Size and set up width about 700 pixels.

Create a new layer below the current layer and fill it with black color.

Go back to the layer with photo and duplicate it with Ctrl+J, after that desaturate this layer with Image > Adjustments > Desaturate (or press Crtl+Shift+U)

Set opacity up to 72% for this layer. Then select the Eraser Tool and hard round brush about 10 pixels and make clear work on the lips to retrieve the red color.

Ok, merge two of these layers with photo in one and duplicate new layer again. Apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur to copied layer:

Now, change layer mode to Overlay and set up opacity to 70%.

After that, select the Gradient Tool, create new layer and fill it with black to transparent gradient as shown on my picture below.

Time to make a little accent on the beads. Temporary change opacity to 70%, then select the Eraser Tool (Brush: 40 px, Hardness: 100%, Opacity: 10%) and make a little dots on baeds on the gradient layer.

Change opacity to 100% again. After that use the Blur Tool (Brush: 150 px, Strength: 30%) to blur the space around the beads a little bit.

Well, we’re done for the tutorial! I hope you enjoyed it, even just a little.

Now we are going to design creative multicolored sunset using photo mixing some vector shapes and lighting effects.

First of all, we need to find some appropriate picture of sunset to design it in future. Use Google Images or you can also use my picture. Open up picture and start the tutorial! Duplicate background with Ctrl+J, then go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and apply a mild blur of 1,5px.

Now, we set the blurred layer to blending mode Soft Light and set opacity up to 50%. After that make this layer black and white with Image > Adjustments > Desaturate or press Ctrl+Shift+U. This gives us a slightly surreal blurring on the image.

Now, I think we need to do a little dodge work. Select the Dodge Tool (Brush: 250 px, Range: Highlights, Exposure: 50%) and make clearer the dark parts of the image. See the difference now:

Merge two of these layers in one. We are done with background for now. Move to the next step. Create a new layer, then select the Elliptical Marquee Tool and create selections as shown on the picture below. After that fill selected area with white color.

Remove selection with Ctrl+D and apply the Blur Tool to blur the sun shape and then change layer mode to Overlay for this layer.

Ok, now select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and create selection as on my picture that you can see below:

Cut chosen area to the new layer with Ctrl+Shift+J. Apply Filter > Blur> Motion Blur to the new received layer.

You should receive something like this:

Looks as real sun now, don’t you agree? Good, now I would like to add some curl ornaments to the sun glow. Well, we need to find the elements we will use. I prefer to use these. Let’s start mixing curls with sun glow.

Merge all layers with curls in one and duplicate received new one layer using Ctrl+J. Apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with similar settings to these:

Now we have an effect like this:

Merge two layers with curls in one again and duplicate one more time. After that flip new duplicated layer vertical with Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical and move it down.

Apply Filter > Blur > Motion Blur to this layer:

See the difference, now?

Set the blurred layer to blending mode Overlay and after that select the Eraser Tool and a soft round brush about 50 px to clear curls image out the sea area.

Now, go to the previous layer and apply Outer Glow layer style to it.

See the result:

Now the lighting is pretty nice already, but I’d like some different hues in the image as it makes the image a lot warmer than bluish colors. Use next colors to make sunset multicolor: #c59840, #c54053, #c540c0, #7840c5, #43609a. So in a new layer, use the Brush Tool (Brush: 80 px) to make brush strokes with a different colors.

After that apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with similar settings to these:

We received something like this:

Now in your tools palette choose the Smudge Tool (Brush: 150 px, Mode: Normal, Strength: 35%). Using your mouse, smudge your multicolor strokes outwards. Note that in the image shown, I’ve done some pretty big smudges so you can see roughly what we’re doing, but in reality you should make smaller, more subtle smudges.

Now we set the layer to blending mode Color and set opacity up to 47%.

Then use the Eraser Tool with a large, soft brush and remove some areas where you don’t want as much to shine through.

Ok, time to add the sun rays to finish off the tutorial. To make it we are going to use a combination of glowing edges and radial blurring. Go to the background layer and duplicate it using Ctrl+J. Then go to Filter > Stylize > Glowing Edges and use settings as on my picture below:

Looks strange, isn’t it?

Set the layer to blending mode Screen and apply new Filter > Blur > Radial Blur:

Please note that the blur center is shifted slightly to the right to the place where the sun shines.

Repeat the last filter used again by pressing Ctrl+F. After that go to the Image > Adjustments > Levels to correct brightness and contrast for current layer.

Picture becomes better now:

After that try to correct the sun rays a little bit. Use the Smudge Tool (Brush:150 px, Mode: Normal, Strength: 30%) to do this.

Looks better now! Now, bring more sharpness to the sun rays. To do this use the Sharpen Tool (Brush:500 px, Mode: Normal, Strength: 40%).

Ok, to begin you need to find a few photos to make composition by using it. First of all find the photo of the eye. Use Google Images or different stock photo resources. Also you can use my photo. Open this file and duplicate the layer with Ctrl+J, then desaturate upper layer with Image > Adjustments > Desaturate (or use Ctrl+Shift+U):

Ok, go on. Get the Polygonal Lasso Tool to select eyeball area as on my picture:

Press Delete to clear selected area and remove selection with Ctrl+D. Eyeball area becomes color again.

Time to add the texture to the skin. Now, find another one picture of the Earth map or use mine. Open this picture and copy it to our main canvas and reduce it a little bit. Change layer mode for this layer to Soft Light.

Apply Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast with next presets:

Now you should have something like this one below:

After that make contrast correction. Now, using the Dodge Tool with moderate settings (Soft brush: 65 px, Range: Midtones, Exposure: 50%) do a little bit of dodge-work.

Ok, now we need to make clear eyeball area again. Select the previous layer (Ctrl+left click the Layer Thumbnail in the Layers Palette) and press Ctrl+Shift+I to invert the selection, after that press Delete to clear image in selection.

Deselect this fragment with Ctrl+D. Then apply the Sharpen Tool (Mode: Normal, Strength: 50%) and a soft round brush about 500 px to the map layer to make it sharp.

Move to the next step. Find a new one picture of fish in water; also feel free to use mine. Open this picture and copy it onto the main canvas. Then select water bubbles using the Polygonal Lasso Tool and cut this selected fragment to the new layer with Ctrl+Shift+J.

Hide the layer with picture of fish (click on the eye, which indicates layer visibility), we will use it later. Now set the layer mode to Multiply for layer with water bubbles. After that move it to the eye area as on my picture below:

Get the Sharpen Tool and make this layer sharp.

Ok, after that select the Eraser Tool and make clear all outside eyeball area. See the result below:

Go back to the hidden layer with fish and make it visible again. Select the Magic Wand Tool and divide fish from white background.

Then press Delete to clear image in selected area and remove the selection with Ctrl+D. Use Edit > Free Transform (Ctrl+T) to reduce fish as on picture below:

Duplicate this layer two more times and reduce it in the same way.

That’s it for now. You are done! Here is what I got:
