Get Some More Fonts

If you ever find yourself with a lack of design inspiration, you could always look at some beautiful typography, or get some new & beautiful fonts to experiment with. I should probably take my own advice in this case and get some more fonts, so I swear I will right after this!

Places to look

Whenever you ask about free fonts, you’ll always be directed to dafont of course, but you should also check out urbanfonts and fontspace.

Awesome Free Fonts

Here are a few free fonts that I enjoy using.

Delicious, a definite must-have in my opinion.

Bobsmade, a cool grunge-style font with a thin outline.

Heineken, another delicious font!

Vintage, ooh swanky.

Veracity, futuristic-y.

Chow Fun, a very fun font, only to be used in moderation.

Gasmask, a pretty brutal font with a lot of detail.

Qlassik, it’s a beautiful font, what more do you need?!

Freebie: 26 Random Vector Doodlings

Hi guys, I’ve got a freebie for you!

I’ve made some random doodlings and converted them to vector format, for your viewing and designing pleasures! If you like the look of the preview image below, you should download the files and check ‘em out.

How to use them

Well, you can either download the .ai file or the .psd file, then you can open them up in either Photoshop or Illustrator, then get designing. A lot of these will probably work best blending them into the background.

How to make them

I made these using a permanent marker on paper. To make your own:

Use a permanent marker, paints, etc on paper
Scan it in, open the image(s)
Use the ‘live trace’ feature in Adobe Illustrator

To download .rar files you have to right-click the link and click save target as or save link as.

Download the .psd (175kb Photoshop file)

Filter Forge: Free Metal Plugin

Are there any metal-texture-loving-photoshoppers here? If there is, you’ll definitely be interested in checking out Filter Forge’s free Photoshop plugin that generates realistic metal. Some examples are: diamond plate metal, tin foil, and ‘alien metal.’

In my honest opinion, this is and absolutely awesome tool! I especially like the diamond plate texture. Did I say it was free? One of the best features about this plugin, in my opinion, is the option to make the texture tileable. What more could you ask for? It’s definitely worth checking out.

Best Pattern Resources on the Web

There actually isn’t many on the web, but these are the best that I could find. Pixel patterns are great for using as website background images, banner textures, and limitless other things! Patterns are great for quickly and easily spicing up the look of images, so go ahead, give them a try!

Five (Multi-Purpose) Abstract 3D Renders

These are all pretty old, but I thought I’d share them around anyway. They’re really useful for tons of things, signatures probably being the most common, but also headers, banners, whatever really, you just have to be creative!
