How to Add Inscription to the Stone Wall
One more interesting tutorial about how to put some text on the stone and bring it volume form.
Make a new document with the resolution 600×450 for this tutorial. Select some appropriate colors, for example #ae8c42 and fill the canvas with it.

After that apply Filter > Noise Add Noise with next presets:

Now we have effect like this:

After that apply Filter > Texture > Texturizer:

The relief should be next:

Now apply another one Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen:

Time to find appropriate texture to add to the background. Find and copy onto your canvas stone texture. You can find it using Google Images or feel free to use this texture.

Then mess with the layer mode & opacity/fill. I tried Hard Light with opacity of 70%.

Move to the next step. Merge all layers in one and add some shadow to the background. You can do this by using Filter > Render > Lighting Effects with similar settings to these:

See the difference now?
We got nice result isn’t it? Now start with creating the text. Get out the Horizontal Type Tool and add the text whatever you want with color of #867f60:

In the above image I’ve used Trajan Pro (Bold, 50pt, Crisp) as my font of choice. If you don’t have it, feel free to use another one. Then change layer mode to Multiply.

After that duplicate this text layer with Ctrl+J and set up fill opacity to 0% for this layer. Then apply Bevel and Emboss layer style.

See the result below:

Now, create a new one layer above and merge it with previous to get all layer styles in one layer. Then select the Eraser Tool and a soft round brush about 200 pixels and set up opacity for this brush about 40%, after that make some cleaning work with lighting effects.

Ok, we are done with this tutorial. I am happy with the result, hope you to!

Ok, I followed along with this and did pretty well up until I got to where the instructions say :Then select the Eraser Tool and a soft round brush about 200 pixels and set up opacity for this brush about 40%, after that make some cleaning work with lighting effects”.
When I tried that, my image looked washed out. I stepped backward and tried it two more times, no good. I even clicked on lighting effects and that was disastrous.
Something else too: When I wanted to click on Merge Layers, my text was grayed out. I had to select a layer, hold down the shift key to select all the layers and THEN merge them.
My image is pretty close and not bad for the first attempt but not as good as I would like it to be. Pretty cool way though to make a neat stone image with text.
thankssssssss for learning
shamss from egypt
i like it,,
It’s good!!!
IT CAME OUT EXACTLY AS HOW I THINK IT WOULD… BUT I DIDNT DO THE LAST STEP….I TRIED IT BUT I DIDNT SEE THE DIFFERENCE
